Privacy Policy

1. Overview

The short version: PaxPlanner does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All your task data lives exclusively on your own device.

This Privacy Policy describes how PaxPlanner ("we," "our," or "the Extension") handles information when you install and use our Chrome browser extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about our data practices.

By installing PaxPlanner, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the extension.

2. Data We Collect

PaxPlanner collects no personal information. The only data the extension stores is the content you explicitly enter into the task list. This includes:

  • Task text — the names/descriptions of tasks you add.
  • Task state — whether a task is marked as complete or incomplete.
  • Preferences — your selected display mode (light/dark) and filter selection (All / Active / Completed).

This data is stored only in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. It never leaves your browser.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

PaxPlanner does not collect any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any contact information
  • Browsing history or URLs of pages you visit
  • Location data (geographic or IP-based)
  • Device identifiers or hardware information
  • Cookies or tracking identifiers
  • Crash logs or diagnostic data sent to any server
  • Usage analytics or interaction events
  • Any data from websites you visit
PaxPlanner has no backend server, no database, and no analytics pipeline. There is no way for us to receive your data even if we wanted to.

4. How Data Is Stored

All task data is persisted using the Chrome Storage API (chrome.storage.local). This is a browser-native API that stores data in a sandboxed location on your local machine.

  • Data is not synced to any cloud service or external server.
  • Data is not shared with any other extension, application, or third party.
  • Data persists across browser sessions on the same device until you manually delete tasks or uninstall the extension.
  • Uninstalling PaxPlanner will permanently remove all locally stored task data from your browser.

You are in complete control of your data at all times.

5. Extension Permissions

PaxPlanner requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function. Below is an explanation of each permission used:

  • storage — Required to save and retrieve your task list using chrome.storage.local. Without this permission the extension cannot persist your tasks between browser sessions.

PaxPlanner does not request permissions to:

  • Read or modify web page content (activeTab, tabs, content scripts on all URLs)
  • Access your browsing history
  • Make network requests to remote servers
  • Access your clipboard, camera, microphone, or any device hardware
If a future version of the extension requires new permissions, we will disclose what they are and why they are needed in the release notes before you update.

6. Third-Party Services

PaxPlanner does not integrate with, communicate with, or send data to any third-party service, including but not limited to:

  • Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel)
  • Advertising networks
  • Cloud storage services
  • Authentication providers
  • Crash reporting services

The extension operates entirely offline and standalone. No external APIs are called.

7. Children's Privacy

PaxPlanner does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since PaxPlanner does not collect any personal data from any user of any age, we meet this requirement by design.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through this extension in any way, please contact us and we will investigate promptly.

8. Your Rights & Data Control

Because we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, most traditional data rights (access, correction, deletion requests to us) are managed entirely by you, locally:

  • Access: You can see all your task data directly in the extension popup at any time.
  • Deletion: Delete individual tasks using the trash icon, or remove all data by uninstalling the extension.
  • Portability: You may use the browser's developer tools to inspect and export chrome.storage.local data at any time.

If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK-GDPR, or CCPA. Since we process no personal data, these regulations impose no obligations on us beyond what is described here — but we honour the spirit of these laws and prioritise your privacy by design.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • Note significant changes in the Chrome Web Store release description.

Continued use of PaxPlanner after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
